Defending the traditional American family is not for the feint of heart. Whatever you do, don’t claim that single motherhood is bad for society, because you will be labeled a bigot and a woman-hater. That’s a shame, because single motherhood is especially bad for women. In fact, speaking out against single motherhood is not anti-woman, but pro-woman.
Let me explain. Raising a child alone puts way too much pressure on the mother. She works multiple jobs to get by while her child doesn’t get the proper upbringing to mold him into an fine, upstanding citizen.
The men get off the hook. They can impregnate as many women as they want and just run away. This is part of what has destroyed the urban inner city. Kids are growing up without father figures, which leads them to a life of crime. THIS MUST STOP.
New York Post writer Andrea Peyser recently reacted to the anger that erupted regarding some comments from assumed 2012 contender Mike Huckabee:
It’s tragic but true. Holly wood speaks. Trailer parks listen.
From Los Angeles to Har lem to the Upper East Side, the population went spastic when presidential maybe Mike Huckabee uttered a ticklish truth last week about the rich, preggers and proudly unmarried Oscar winner, Natalie Portman.
“One of the things that’s troubling is that people see a Natalie Portman or some other Hollywood starlet who boasts of, ‘Hey look, you know, we’re having children, we’re not married, but we’re having these children, and they’re doing fine,’ ” Huckabee said.
“But there aren’t really a lot of single moms out there who are making millions of dollars every year for being in a movie.”
He might as well have advocated mass production of foie gras. A swift verdict was rendered by the screeching yentas on “The View.”
“Get off the backs of women who are trying to raise their kids,” yowled Whoopi Goldberg, herself the spawn of a single mom. “Get off their damn backs. I am sick of this!”
Missing the point by a nursery length, squishy conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck urged Huck “to kind of decide whether you’re gonna condemn abortion or condemn women who have children.”
I guess marriage isn’t an option.
But agreement came from unlikely quarters. Huckabee was cheered on the lefty Upper West Side by three 15-year-old girls — one the daughter of a major contributor to President Obama.
“Of course, it’s wrong to have a baby like that,” chirped one teen, Sue.
“Of course! It’s wrong, dumb,” said her pal.
Why can’t so-called progressives see the pregnant elephant in the room?
Throughout America, millions of children are doomed. Generations go from the cradle to the dole, as the unwed birth rate reaches a dizzying height — 1 child in 4 born in this country is illegitimate! That’s according to the Centers for Disease Control. Hollywood need not worry.
In the 19 years since Vice President Dan Quayle sparked scorn, and debate, by criticizing the unmarried motherhood of TV’s fictional Murphy Brown, much has changed. For that, you can thank today’s A-list role models and spiritual guides.
The culture glamorizes and celebrates mothers who reproduce without the nuisance of a spouse. Angelina Jolie failed to put a ring on it before giving mommyhood a go. Madonna’s first kid was whelped without the presence of a dad. Jodie Foster. Calista Flockhart.
Martha Stewart’s daughter, Alexis, boasted about spending a fortune hiring a surrogate to carry her seed. The message is clear: Men are not necessary.
The consequences are dire.
Hollywood single moms have millions of dollars at their disposal. Meanwhile:
A Census Bureau study last November determined that 29.9 percent of families headed by a single mom have incomes below the poverty line, compared with just 5.8 percent for those headed by a married couple.
More disturbing — half the Hispanic babies born are illegitimate. In the black community, unwed motherhood tops 72 percent. We know that fatherless girls are more likely to wind up pregnant as teens; boys may be jail-bound. Mix the mess together, and you have a permanent underclass.
Hollywood single mothers are glorifying single motherhood. At the same time, they are destroying America.
