Joe Klein is a moron. I think he works for Time, which alone makes him a moron. But more specifically, he’s a moron for going after Glenn Beck. While on The Chris Matthews Show (which airs at 5 AM where I’m from), Klein tore into Beck, most likely because of Beck’s anti-Klein rants (check out the link) from earlier in the year. I’ll let Mediaite explain what Klein said:
During a segment on this morning’s The Chris Matthews Show, host Chris Matthews asked his panel to hand out year-end awards. Most of the broadcast was a fun discussion with good-natured praise and jabs for the year’s most notorious political celebrities. However, for the category of who demonstrated the biggest “Chutzpah” of the year, one nominee had guest Joe Klein nearly foaming at the mouth with anger.
With Matthews’ suggestion of Fox News host Glenn Beck and his decision to host his Restoring Honor rally on the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream Speech”, Klein let loose on Beck more generally.
Here’s what Joe Klein said about Beck:
There has to be a word for Glenn Beck. Who is a telecharlatan. And who really, I mean he retires the cup. Not just for that rally, but for this phony, professorial air that he has when he is broadcasting in which he promotes these ridiculous conspiracy theories by John Birch Society nutcakes. I mean it’s outrageous.
I love how elitists like Klein can’t stand when commentators like Beck point out how phony they are. The Christ Mathews Show is an elitist swampland populated by nasty crocodiles who spend their time at Georgetown cocktail parties attacking the very people they pretend to care about.
If Klein’s anti-Beck drivel had any truth to it, I might look past his phony pseudo-intellectual attitude. But in no way is Beck connected to the extremist John Birch Society, any more than Joe Klein is a graduate of Harvard (he went to Penn, the “trailer park” of the Ivy League). I was at Glenn Beck’s rally, unlike Klein. I went more as a blogger than as a true believer in what Beck says. But I came out of that event with more respect for Beck and what he does. Klein can’t stand that regular folk despise everything he stands for. He’s got thin skin, because he was clearly affected by Beck tearing him a new one. Klein pretends to be smart, but he’s just a bearded schmuck without an original thought.
