Future Running Mates

Politico has a story up on how some winners from Tueday’s election could the VP nominees in 2012.  Among the possible running mates, according to Politico, are Marco Rubio, Susana Martinez, John Kasich, Rob Portman, and Tom Corbett.

All of these people would be good, but I think Rubio and Martinez are the two best.  Rubio, a Cuban-American with great conservative credentials, would almost guarantee that Republicans win Florida.  That, plus Hispanics are the fastest-growing demographic in America.  Martinez, the first female Hispanic Governor in U.S. history, would appeal to both women and Hispanics.

The Fabulous GOP

The midterms were significant, not just for the historic gains in the House, but also for the huge demographic shifts among the electorate.  Obama brought out the youth vote and black vote.  This time around, far fewer of them actually voted.  And some even shifted to the GOP column.

Some Demographics moved significantly towards Republicans, namely Moderates and independents.  But one demographic is being overlooked or at least not talked about very much.
